Peanut Butter Pretzel Granola Bars

This simple granola bar recipe was shared by Evangeline (age 9).

Peanut butter pretzel granola bars are pretty easy to make, because there’s no cooking. So if a kid wants to help, you don’t have to say, “No! There’s cooking!” Peanut butter pretzel granola bars taste really good, because peanut butter and pretzels go well together. The pretzels add a nice crunch.

Peanut Butter Pretzel Granola Bar Ingredients

These are the ingredients. There are only 5 ingredients. If you’re allergic to chocolate or don’t want to use chocolate, you can do raisins or cranberries instead.

Peanut Butter Pretzel Granola Bar Supplies

These are the tools. If you don’t have a mixer, you can just use a spoon or your hands to stir.

Put pretzels in ziploc bag and crush

The first step is to put a handful of pretzels in a ziploc bag and crush them. Flat pretzels work the best. When they are crushed so that it is not dust, but not just big huge chunks, so that it will add a nice crunch, that means it’s ready.

quarter cup crushed pretzels

The crushed pretzels should make 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup.

pour pretzels in mixer

Add the crushed pretzels to the mixing bowl.

Add Oats to Mixer

Now add 2 and a half cups oats.

measure peanut butter

Now measure 1 cup peanut butter.

one cup of peanut butter

Once it is full, add it to the mixer.

Measure out chocolate chips

Add one fourth cup chocolate chips to the mixing bowl.

Measure honey for granola bars

Add one fourth cup honey to the mixing bowl.

Mix the Granola Bar Ingredients

Mix the ingredients together. You can use a spoon, your hands, or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment.

Put parchment paper in glass dish

Stick the parchment paper in the dish you are using. We used an 8″ by 8″ glass dish.

Add Granola Bar Mixture to Parchment Paper

Now stick the granola bar mixture in the dish with the parchment paper.

Put Granola Bar Mixture into Parchment Paper

Press down with your fingers until the mixture is spread evenly.

spread evenly in dish

I pressed it down until it was about a half inch thick. (I didn’t measure.)

place in the freezer

Put it in the freezer for one hour to overnight.

Once frozen pull out parchment paper

After it is frozen, take it out of the freezer. Pull the parchment paper out to get it out.

Cut into bars

Cut it up into squares or rectangles.

grab a granola bar

Enjoy your yummy granola bars! Just kidding! (No, just kidding!)
